Hickory Spanking Paddle
Hickory
is another wood you don't come across every day, but it is
a hard wood and has a distinctive, lovely grain.
The
wood in this toy is its natural color for I haven't applied any stain,
but I have given it several coats of non-yellowing lacquer
after
much careful
sanding.
All of the
edges
are rounded, as
are all
my paddles.The overall
length is 16 inches and the width is 3.25 inches. Hickory
is not as heavy a wood as oak or ash, so these paddles feel
lighter in my hand. I'm told that the sensation on impact
is more sting-y and less thuddy than the oak and ash paddles.
